The Information Superhighway in Chinese project was developed by
and his
students at Horace Mann Academic Middle School, San Francisco,
USA in 1994.The goal is to enable Chinese Bilingual students
to use Chinese language on the Internet.
In 1994, our students were the first in the United States
who could used Chinese to communicate with Internet users
in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and UK. We have Chinese E-mail
pen pals around the world now.
We first introduced the world's best Chinese to English translation
software to our bilingual class. Therefore, our Chinese bilingual students
were never hindered by their lack of English ability to get access to
authentic content materials and to do online research. We can type in
or scan in original English articles and use the computer to translate
them into Chinese in just minutes. The accuracy rate is over 85%!
The translation software has proved to be a strong tool to provide
Chinese LEP students updated educational materials and
it is the best partner for bilingual educators.
