Andre's Aquarium Club is dedicated to the advancement
and dissemination of information relating to all aspects of the biology of
aquatic life.
Today's aquarium hobby, especially salt water,
is a large, lucrative business. As with anything, there are those who are
in it purely for profit, with little regard for the environment. These people
range from the collectors who still use cyanide to catch fish, even though
it shortens the fish's life, to the retailers who will sell anything to anyone,
no questions asked. Our club is environmentally conscientious
and we only deal with organizations and companies that adhere to international
and domestic policies that protect our beautiful oceans and reefs.

Subj: Re: MEMBER, Adam Gubbels To: Andrerich,
My tank has been doing quite well. Pretty much everything in my tank
has been alive 4 years. The only really new addition are a snowflake eel
and a brittle star. The biggest excitement for me is that my mushroom coral
has reproduced. I now have 7 mushroom coral in the tank. I started as a lifetime
member four years ago, I thank you for all your help. Adam
Subj: Re: MEMBER, RICHARD CORMANY To: Andrerich,
I am very happy with the quick responses and help since I joined your
club, Thank You
Subj: Re:MEMBER, MADELEINE HAMONIC To: Andrerich,
Dear Andre, I've always been satisfied with the quick respond and answers
I've received. They were ALWAYS so very helpful, I'm sure I'll be asking
plenty more. Madeleine
Subj:Re: MEMBER ,ADRIAN GOLUMBOVICI To: Andrerich,
I joined Andre's Aquarium Club, and since that time I have gathered my
information from the Aquarium Doctor. Mostly because he takes the time to
answer my questions. Thank You
Subj:Re: MEMBER, JOHN KRELL To: Andrerich,
Well, my 75 gal. reef tank is up and running. Thank you for all of your
help. I cannot say enough thanks to the club for all the help it has
been. Becoming a member of this club with all it's information and
unselfish people such as the Aquarium Doctor, has been the best move I could
have made. I highly recommend all to join this club as in my opinion
it is the best club on the Internet. John Krell
Subj:Re: MEMBER, JOHN MAISTO To: Andrerich,
I bought two clown loaches and just thinking ahead, gaining knowledge
from the Aquarium Doctor. Purchased the Revive as a precaution. I want to
be prepared and jump on it as soon and if a problem happens! I hope
one never happens. Thank you again for your support and knowledge, I
have told everyone I know about your site. John Maisto
Subj: Re: MEMBER, Joe Baldino II To:
Andrerich,
The reason I decided to join a group of experienced marine Aquarists
is due to my previous 20 years of raising cichlids. I believe I have mastered
most medium to large varieties of the cichlid family and my home has run
out of space for the large tank environment.I just started a 60 gallon Marine
(fish only). The most alarming thing I've encountered is the lack of true
knowledge most of the retail owners have. That is why I have become one of
your members. Joe Baldino
Subj: Re: MEMBER, Gloria Rich To: Andrerich,
I'm a new life-time member and am happy to have found you and I am adopting
you as my final authority. I am also new the grand world of saltwater aquariums
and am totally immersed in it and want to be prudent with all facets of
maintaining my aquarium and fishes. With your website I believe I will be
able to achieve that goal.
I want to thank and commend you for your excellent and prompt service
in replying to my inquiries. You most assuredly are accurate to say
that the responses are faster than one can look up answers. I am highly
appreciative of this service.
Most cordially, Gloria Rich

Many Thanks, Charles!!!!!

Your club has made my life much easier especially that this hobby is extremely
rare in my country, and people know very little about it. Your club
has made working with my aquarium much more fun and much more professional.
I honestly think that your Club is an excellent one, and I am sure that it
has great future. From what I hear, saltwater aquariums is now one of the
biggest hobbies in the USA. All the best Sir, good luck, and thank
you again for this great service. Walidi
Subj: Re: MEMBER, James Bradley
Navigating your web site is really easy by going to the homepage each
time I have a site to check. I figured after joining it would be very helpful
using the Aquarium Doctor. I was correct. It only takes me minutes to get
an answer about my aquarium, faster than I could look it up. The percentage
of ads to join your site makes it easy to join, good job. I am impressed.
Thank you for the opportunity to join, James
Subj: Re: MEMBER, Robert Moore
I have just become a member within the last couple
of days and already have learned a amazing amount of information and tips
that I have been looking for answers for months. Thank you for this excellent

Reef tank
I have been a member of Andre's Aquarium club for about four years now.
Starting with a 10 gallon fresh water tank.
Now four years later we have four tanks, a 55 gallon fresh water plant
tank stocked with assorted Rainbows & plants, A 20 gallon salt water
Anemone tank, A 29 gallon salt water fish only tank and my pride and joy
A 75 gallon reef tank. In setting these tanks up over the years like all
new and advanced people in this hobby you become stumped as what to do to
overcome problems. I have found a world of information through the Aquarium
Doctor, no matter how many times I ask a question or questions, no matter
how trivial it may seem, the Aquarium Doctor always speedily replies with
the answers that have the information I have needed.
I cannot say enough thanks to the club for all the help it has been.
Becoming a member of this club with all it's information and unselfish
people such as the Aquarium Doctor, has been the best move I could have
made.
I highly recommend all to join this club as in my opinion it is the best
club on the Internet.

Coral reefs are one of the most threatened marine ecosystems. At least
two thirds of the worlds reefs are considered to be deteriorating and significant
losses are predicted in the next decade. Reefs face threats from a variety
of sources ranging from the complex and wide ranging problems like global
warming to destructive localized industries such as fishing with bombs and
cyanide to mining of corals for building material, sedimentation, pollution
and coastal development.
We must save our Reefs
"For in the end
we will conserve only
what we love.
We will love only what
we understand.
We will understand only
what we are taught."
--B. Dioum
After all, we have taken these living animals
out of their beautiful natural environment so that we can observe them in
the comfort our homes. Remember most marine animals are captured
at sea and shipped to the store to be sold. This is another reason for us
to learn everything we can about each creatures needs,,

PLANTS, FISH, REEF ANIMALS AND PRODUCTS. TO STIMULATE INTEREST IN, APPRECIATION

Our website allows
us to share a wonderful future with you. If
you have an aquarium, or are thinking of starting
one, you should join our club to save money and
the lives of your fish.
The Aquarium Club pages are much
more than a place to see and learn
about aquatic life. Our focus is on raising
people's awareness of the environment
through information and Internet
links. Our interest extends beyond these pages,
to conservation and aquaculture research
projects worldwide-from helping understand
environmental changes, to
saving the endangered Reefs, and
endangered species with captive bred
freshwater and marine life. It's an exciting
time for us. Our website allows
us to share a wonderful future with
you.
Our Aim Is to provide a real, "old-fashioned"
, friendly and informal fish club on the Internet where beginners and experienced
aquarists alike can profit from our experiences, but at the same time using
modern technology to the full and providing members with personal information
services without attending time consuming meetings. Speed and accuracy
are vital in taking action to remedy a problem. Andre's Aquarium Club
can quickly repay its cost of membership to all those who treasure
their fish.

Shawn Prescott studied Marine Biology at the Univ. Miami. Built Shellfish
(Ireland) Ltd., Built Scottish Sea Farms Red Sea Fish pHarm . Has
done consultancy in many countries, France, Spain, Greece, Norway, Israel
UK, Saudi Arabia & several others, & worked with many varieties of
Fish, also most related technologies.
In this new and most exciting of mediums,we will try and concentrate
on the practical considerations relating to the health of your fish, in the
real world of aquarium keeping.
Although one may think otherwise, the problems that we face as
aquarists, are not exactly the same, as similar fish will face in their natural
habitat, although the actual parasites, bacteria, etc. will in so many cases
be those, that do sometimes create problems in the wild.
Similarly, in the ever growing field of Aquaculture , there are
differences, between this method of keeping fish and maintaining them in
the average aquarium. Only by being aware of these differences, and the distinct
possibilities that each form can manifest in possible problems , can we begin
to both understand the potential difficulties, and take sensible steps to
minimize the kinds of diseases or problems that may arise, or hopefully avoid
them altogether. Please read Shawn's Articles:

In tidepools of the shore we see
the most picturesque miniatures of ocean life. Surrounded by a reef of small
rocks, fringed with overhanging seaweeds a branching corallines, these little
nooks afford grotto-like dwellings for animated beings. Crabs are here seen
half hiding in the dark recesses; shrimps are burrowing in the sand or darting
across the little bay; sea-flowers are blooming; sea worms expanding their
feathery fans; and barnacles encrusting rocks. Pebbles throw out their long
arms fringed with a network in many a cast for food; and small fishes glitter
in the brine as they seek to elude the stranger's sight.
Could we but transport this
little picture to our dwellings - could we place it in our
gardens - could we examine
the contents at leisure - could we watch the habits of these living creatures
in their native element, but far from their native retreats, what an endless
source of amusement it would it be! Can we do this? Can we raise the grotto,
and carry it home, water, rocks, plants, animals and all? No, but we can
realize the idea by collecting the materials and imitating the arrangement,
and this will be a "Marine Aquarium."
George Sowerby, 1865

that is provided in nature, but if we understand the

FAQ
Aquarticles.com
This is a site containing an archive of articles and information about
fish and aquariums for free downloading and reprinting by aquarium club
newsletter editors. Editors and individual authors are invited to submit
original or previously published articles.
As editor of my aquarium clubs printed newsletter I tried to include
several articles in each issue. As the monthly deadline approached, I often
had problems with which I am sure other editors are familiar!
- A shortage of original articles from members of my club. Sometimes,
I believe, they did not think it worthwhile to write an article for the small
circulation within our one club.
- If I did see an article in another clubs printed exchange newsletter
that I wished to use, I had to get permission, and re- type it all myself,
(or wait for e-mail responses which came in a variety of forms). Photos and
illustrations added more difficulties.
Wanting a new challenge, starting in March 2001 I decided to try to ease
these problems for newsletter editors all over the World. and to give them
some assistance with their often lonely and thankless task
As Aquarticles has developed I have realized that there is lots of good
amateur writing out there, hidden in aquarium club web sites that are normally
read only by local club members. I am attempting to bring these together
on a comprehensive web site that is available to general readers whether
they are members of clubs or not.
Furthermore, some authors do not have a club newsletter or a web site
to write for. They are invited to submit articles to Aquarticles and be assured
of a wide readership.
