The molly comes from southern U.S.A. and Mexico

Temperature 72-82 degrees F
Mollies enjoy  very hard water, very alkilne, in fact they will tolerate brackish to actual salt water.( I have had them in a marine aquarium along with salt water fish.)
The Molly is a live bearing fish and is easy to breed and raise. Be careful moving a mother with young in her, this could cause premature births and the young could perish. This fish is a schooling fish and should be kept with many others of its own kind. The Molly should be maintained in well planted environment.
The molly comes in Black, Green, Gold, Spotted, and varias colors. The fish also comes with sailfins and or lyretail.
The Sailfin Molly is one of the most beautiful of all the freshwater fish.... The August 2001 Member of the Month

Sailfin Molly

The genus Poecilia is in the family Poeciliidae which includes the live-bearing toothed carps such as swordtails, platies, mollies and guppies. The live-bearing toothed carps are most closely related to the "egg-bearing toothed carps" which include the "killifishes". The genus Poecilia includes such common aquarium fish as guppies and mollies.
